Welcome to the City of Lubbock Cemetery's Wreaths Across America Page.

The City of Lubbock Cemetery is where it all started—the first Lubbock cemetery to host a Wreaths Across America ceremony in 2008. A handful of Civil Air Patrol seniors and cadets laid about 60 wreaths. Each year, we increase the number of wreaths. Thank you to the many sponsors and volunteers who help us to REMEMBER the Fallen, HONOR those who Serve, and TEACH our children the value of Freedom.

In 2011, Major Tammy Preidis was asked to serve as a presenter at the ceremony. The experience changed her whole outlook on serving her country. She and her husband served in the Air Force, and they have two sons serving as well. As she presented a wreath that year, she thought of her grandfather, Harold Hunt, who was on the Oklahoma during Pearl Harbor.  In January 2012, she approached the commander and asked if she could take over the Wreaths Across America program for the Civil Air Patrol, Lubbock Composite Squadron. Major Preidis has been involved ever since.

We are committed to honoring our veterans, and we hope you will help us do so. We need sponsors and volunteers to help lay wreaths at the ceremony.

If you have special requests, please get in touch with our volunteer Location Coordinator, Major Tammy Preidis at 806-429-2033, waacaplbk@yahoo.com
