Burcky (Burns), U.S. Army Veteran, loving mother, wife, grandmother and caring nurse, passed away on August 23, 2022 in Colorado Springs just three days before her 102 birthday. Eleanor was born on August 26, 1920 in St. Louis MO. She was the fourth child of seven children born to Carl and Grace Burns.Like many of her nursing school classmates, Eleanor joined the Army, went to boot camp and in 1943 she was deployed to Adak in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. The Aleuts were an important part of WWII and often referred to as the forgotten war.
